I thought it was only me
We all walk around carrying the weight of the world, and we all walk around thinking we’re the only ones who do. We exert so much effort trying to hide the intensity of our emotions, that we don’t realize we’re all pretty much experiencing the same. We continue shushing our thoughts before they accidentally get heard, when we all mostly have the same unconscious worries and wonders on repeat all day. Then one day we happen to open up to someone about a little something we cannot hold in anymore, and we try to look away right after – in fear of spotting that judgmental stare we’ve long been trying to avoid. But that person’s heart only starts racing, as they try finding their voice just to say “How come? I thought it was only me.”
For they, too, turn out to have been on the verge of spilling out the exact same.
