اللهم دبر لي أمري فإني لا أحسن التدبير

اسم الله المدبر
Allah, The Arranger of Affairs

I find so much comfort in this name, and in this particular prayer. There’s something about the word “Mudabbir” in Arabic that feels so comprehensive… so full of safety.

See, it’s not just that God “arranges” our lives or keeps everything in order. He also possesses the kind of knowledge that makes Him the Only One who can perfectly handle the littlest, tiniest details that come up on the way. He knows exactly what we need, when we need it, and how to get us there very smoothly. The mistakes we think we make as we go are only part of His plan; to allow us to grow in ways He’s already written for us. He manages e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.

And the best of all is: this is coming from the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy. All what He allows to unfold is kheir, nothing ‘bad’ is ever planned for us. Even when our tiny human minds fail to understand the wisdom behind it. We just weren’t created to be ‘tortured’, and so all His tadabeer have got to be blindly trusted.

I often wonder how anyone can survive through this world without the ability to remember that someone up there is ALWAYS taking care of us. Or without being able to pray, and then leave it all to Him to work it out exactly the way we don’t even recognize we need it.

Alhamdulillah He’s our Mudabbir. Always. 🤍
